All white living space, a mix of different types of furniture can often be too busy or overbearing. For a more relaxing ambience, select furniture from the same colour palette to continue your design theme in two areas, linking them together. Lighter wood finishes such as maple and birch give a feeling of space. Here, an original fireplace, double doors and parquet flooring lend a grand feeling to this spacious, open-plan living room.
Living area with statement artwork and cushions. Although a colour palette of muted whites and paired-back neutrals instantly brightens a space, these cool shades can sometimes feel a bit sterile and clinical. Be sure to spice up your living room colour scheme up with statement wall art and bold cushions.
Mediterranean-inspired living room. As one of the most social spaces in the house, your living room needs to look good, work hard and function well. Before you begin any work, take a litle time to work out how the space functions for you. Is it a relaxing haven, and entertaining space of family central? Here, an elegant fusion of old and new will give a timeless feel to your living room. A pale wood floor reflects light from the windows and hits of strong yellow keep the look glam, not gloomy.
Plantation-chic living room. This colonial-style rattan chair works equally well indoors and out. Casual in its construction, the colour makes it more adaptable and it works equally well in a contemporary, traditional or country living room. Accents of blue reflect the seaside views, while a colourful rug and sofa liven up the predominantly white look.
